Paik are wicked conjurers of a seriously delirious thunder, unleashing a maelstrom of sound that is as lilting as it is crushing. A power trio of guitar/bass/drums, the band first streaked across the Michigan space-gaze scene in 1997, seeking to chart out new aural frontiers in a rock format. This is a wide panorama of Nam June Paik's work as a musician - "Hommage ΰ John Cage" (1958-1959), "Ιtude for Pianoforte" (1959-1960) and "Simple" (1961) are good examples of neodada music and deconstruction from the late 50's; basically irreverent audio-collages. "Prepared Piano for Merce Cunningham" (1977) captures an improvised performance by Paik on a de-tuned piano. While the piece was later mixed and edited for use by Cunningham, Paik favors this raw, straight-to-tape version.
