Very different sounding from their previous releases in both sound and approach. This was going to be a quiet, stripped down album but the band started playing with full instrumentation on a whim and changed their entire approach. The results are songs that were written softly and played loud. The vocals are more stylized and the string arrangements add a haunting texture not present on other releases. It's difficult to criticize this CD release, of the original music tracks from Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack's {#King Kong}, from 1933, although it is slightly confusing on first glance.
