Nations by the River began in a derelict parking lot in Newcastle, during the Gelbison/The Sleepy Jackson tour of early 2003. It just so happened that after all the equipment from that night's show had been packed away and everyone was ready to head back down to Sydney, no one could find the keys to the tour-van.
