This is the band's fourth album and first for Altitude Records. 'Emblems' -- with its nuanced songs about the inconsistencies of human nature, girls, and the leafy side of Canada ? is more immediate than past releases: the lyrics are uncontrolled; intent unmasked; and things made clear. All in all: it rocks softly. And it should take Matt Pond PA from critics' darling to household name.
