#67 Seller of 2005! Like Sumday, Excerpts From the Diary of Todd Zilla was recorded at Jason Lytle's home studio in Ceres, CA. Jason wrote all the songs and produced it as well. Excerpts From...'s sound is more in line with Under the Western Freeway and Sophomore Slump, but it still has a couple of straight up pop-driven songs. Like all Grandaddy albums before Excerpts From... creatively use vocals to express Jason's thoughts, and in this case his dissatisfaction with life in Modesto, CA.
