Retina Riddim (CD+DVD)
Their first DVD release was made by band member and visual artist Brian DeGraw. It's more of an art film than a tour film, documentary, live video, or anything as remotely stringent. This work proves to be a perfect combination of sound and vision, providing a rhythm that plays on your eyes as much as your ears. DeGraw first compiled a soundtrack from the band's audio archives, then added video elements, creating wholly new visual vignettes, and drawing on documentary footage that captures the heights of the group's live performances from the last year, as well as the more idyllic moments of their travels around the world. Also included is a fan film, audio CD, and poster, summing up the band's multi-faceted approach to their art. It is both a document of Gang Gang Dance's progress and a look forward to the direction they're moving in.
