Narcissist's Waltz is Die Romantik's first full-length release. The album, which was self-recorded by the three band members in an isolated chalet in the Catskills, captures the raw and warm natural reverb of the house and its surrounding nature. The New York trio (who met in Paris) got their name from a German compilation of romantic classical composers from the early 19th century, which is worth noting when trying to describe the type of music they play. Die Romantik effortlessly blend classical and pop music, all while concocting lush harmonies and sharing the songwriting credits evenly three ways.

I stumbled on this album and all I can say is WOW. These guys are incredibly talented and their sound is totally unique. I work in a record store and believe me, I've listened to a lot of music. I'm amazed that the record labels aren't fighting to sign them up (or maybe they are.) Anyway, I highly recommend "Narcissist's Waltz". I agree with the previous comment that this is an album you can listen to endlessly. Each time yields something new. Do yourself a favor and have a listen.

I cannot stop listening to this album, and I believe it is one of those cd's that can stay on repeat indefinitely. This is no doubt due to the diversity of sound that Die Romantik creates. And, while DR has the most diverse sound of any indy band out there right now, Narcissist's Waltz comes together as a beautifully cohesive album. I have read many bloggers trying to pinpoint this band to a handful of influences, such as Serge Gainsbourg, Muse, and even Chopin. They can continue to no avail, but I am certain they will discover Die Romantik has developed a sound, though rooted in many musical traditions, ultimately very much its own. I urge everyone to buy this album. It is some of the most exciting music to come out in a long time!
