Rumours that a fresh-faced pop mega-beast was emerging from the highways and byways of Cardiff first began to surface early in the Summer of 2006. Los Campesinos! played their first gig in May at a Student Union club night. The band formed at Cardiff University where the members still study amid a blaze of enthusiasm, friendship, chance acquaintances, and the desire to craft damn good pop music. They were, from the outset, a happy union. Citing everything from Pavement, to Bright Eyes, The Cure, Silver Jews and all things riot grrrl as influences, they were diverse in taste as well as talent. Los Campesinos! now find themselves poised to release their six-song debut enhanced EP, Sticking Fingers Into Sockets, on July 3. The EP features Los Campesinos! acclaimed U.K. single, 'We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives,' released by Witchita Recordings (Bloc Party, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and Peter, Bjorn and John) in February of 2007.
